Word of God See also Commandments of God; Revelation; Scriptures Instructions, commandments, or a message from God. God’s children may receive His word directly by revelation through the Spirit or from His chosen servants (D&C 1:38). By every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live, Deut. 8:3 (Matt. 4:4; D&C 84:43–44). Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path, Ps. 119:105. They were all filled with the Holy Ghost and spake the word of God with boldness, Acts 4:31–33. The iron rod was the word of God that led to the tree of life, 1 Ne. 11:25 (1 Ne. 15:23–25). Ye were past feeling, that ye could not feel his words, 1 Ne. 17:45–46. Wo be unto him that rejecteth the word of God, 2 Ne. 27:14 (2 Ne. 28:29; Ether 4:8). Press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, 2 Ne. 31:20 (2 Ne. 32:3). Because of their unbelief they could not understand the word of God, Mosiah 26:3 (Alma 12:10). They had searched the scriptures diligently, that they might know the word of God, Alma 17:2. Try the virtue of the word of God, Alma 31:5. Alma compared the word of God to a seed, Alma 32:28–43. Whatsoever they speak when moved upon by the Holy Ghost shall be the word of the Lord, D&C 68:4. Live by every word that proceedeth from the mouth of God, D&C 84:44–45.
