Anger is the display of temper. The Lord cautioned His Saints to control their anger (
Matt. 5:22). Neither parent nor child should abuse others in the family. In the scriptures, anger often has the figurative image of fire ( 2 Ne. 15:25; D&C 1:13).
And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell,
The Lord is slow to anger, and of great mercy,
A soft answer turneth away wrath,
A wrathful man stirreth up strife, but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife,
Prov. 15:18 ( Prov. 14:29).
For my name’s sake will I defer mine anger,
I have spread out my hands unto a people that provoketh me to anger continually,
Whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also,
Ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath,
Because I have told you the truth, ye are angry with me,
I will visit this people in mine anger,
Against none is his wrath kindled save those who confess not his hand in all things,
I, the Lord, am angry with the wicked,
