The ability to do something. To have power over someone or something is to have the ability to control or command that person or thing. In the scriptures, power is often connected with the power of God or the power of heaven. It is often closely related to priesthood authority, which is the permission or right to act for God.
For this cause have I raised thee up, to show in thee my power,
God is my strength and power,
2 Sam. 22:33.
Withhold not good when it is in the power of thine hand to do it,
Truly I am full of power by the spirit of the Lord,
All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth,
They were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power,
Tarry ye in the city until ye be endued with power from on high,
As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God,
John 1:12 ( D&C 11:30).
Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you,
