Meek, Meekness See also Broken Heart; Humble, Humility; Patience Godfearing, righteous, humble, teachable, and patient under suffering. The meek are willing to follow gospel teachings. Moses was very meek, Num. 12:3. The meek shall inherit the earth, Ps. 37:11 (Matt. 5:5; 3 Ne. 12:5; D&C 88:17). Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek; seek righteousness, seek meekness, Zeph. 2:3 (1 Tim. 6:11). Learn of me for I am meek and lowly in heart, Matt. 11:29. Meekness is a fruit of the Spirit, Gal. 5:22–23. The servant of the Lord must be gentle, apt to teach, patient, in meekness instructing those that oppose, 2 Tim. 2:24–25. A meek and quiet spirit is of great price in the sight of God, 1 Pet. 3:4. Put off the natural man and become meek, Mosiah 3:19 (Alma 13:27–28). God commanded Helaman to teach the people to be meek, Alma 37:33. The Lord’s grace is sufficient for the meek, Ether 12:26. You have faith in Christ because of your meekness, Moro. 7:39. None is acceptable before God except the meek and lowly of heart, Moro. 7:44. The remission of sins bringeth meekness, and because of meekness cometh the visitation of the Holy Ghost, Moro. 8:26. Walk in the meekness of my Spirit, D&C 19:23.
