Moses and the Brass Serpent

While the Israelites traveled in the wilderness, they often forgot the Lord and complained. The Lord sent serpents to help them be humble and remember Him. The serpents bit the people, and many of the people died.

Numbers 21:1–6

Soon the people repented. They asked Moses to pray that the Lord would make the serpents go away. The Lord did not take the serpents away. But He did make a way for the people to be saved if they were bitten.

Numbers 21:7

The Lord told Moses to make a serpent out of brass and attach it to a pole. When the people were bitten and looked at the brass serpent, the Lord saved them. The Lord helped the Israelites to be humble and trust in Him.
