Purpose

Whether you’re a natural athlete or have the coordination of a deer on ice, sportsmanship and teamwork are always a good call. Competitions can get heated, but being kind and respectful to your teammates, the opposing teams, and officials will make sports more fun and help you become a more considerate person.

Goal Description

Practice good sportsmanship and teamwork.

Goal Ideas

  • Compliment your teammates and members of the opposing team for good plays. If there is an officiating referee, thank him or her for their time after the game.

  • Practice controlling your emotions, even when your team gets behind or you disagree with a referee’s call.

  • Be coachable. It may be hard at first, but learn to take constructive criticism from your teammates and coach.

  • Make sure to include your teammates instead of trying to take over a game.

  • Learn the rules of a sport you are participating in and be honest in keeping all of the rules.

  • Invite one of your teammates to an activity outside of your sport. Getting to know another teammate as a person will make you a better teammate.

  • Create your own goal.
