Purpose

Yes, it is possible to love work! Think about your future self. Do you see a parent? A provider for your family? A leader in your community? Regardless of your goals, working hard and fulfilling your responsibilities now will help you be prepared for whatever your future brings.

Goal Description

Learn to work hard and fulfill your responsibilities.

Goal Ideas

  • Think of something you’d really like to do: run a 5K, audition for a play, bake bread, or enter a photography competition. Make a plan, and challenge yourself a little more with each step toward your goal. Did you run two laps at the track today? Try running three next time. You’ll be crossing the finish line before you know it, and ready to try a 10K!

  • Help your family plan, plant, and care for a garden or grow one of your own—even just a single tomato plant in a pot.

  • Choose one of your current assignments, like a school project or a church calling. Commit to giving your best, and don’t skip things that seem too hard or boring. Don’t quit until the job is done. As doing your best becomes a habit, you’ll earn the trust of others and receive greater responsibilities.

  • Start a small business such as lawn mowing or child care. Make a plan and include things like how much you will charge, how you will get the word out, and so on. Work consistently to be successful. This resource about Starting and Growing My Business may be helpful.
