Purpose

Sharing your testimony of the Book of Mormon with friends and giving them a copy to read will strengthen your testimony and help you feel the Spirit.

Description

Give a new copy of the Book of Mormon to each member of your group. Invite each participant to write a note on the inside front cover and mark one or two favorite scriptures. Role-play talking about the Book of Mormon with someone who has never read it. Then invite group members to give someone a copy of the Book of Mormon and share the blessings that can come from reading it.

  • Book of Mormon video presentations—Invite someone to watch a Book of Mormon video presentation on LDS.org with you or your group. Discuss your thoughts and feelings about what you watched.

  • Favorite Book of Mormon scriptures—Before the activity, invite participants to pick a favorite Book of Mormon scripture. At the activity, divide into pairs and role-play sharing a favorite scripture with a friend. Discuss why it is important to you. Think of someone you could share the scripture with.

  • Share the Book of Mormon on social media—Post favorite scriptures and share why they are important. Include a link to the Book of Mormon text or ways to contact the missionaries for more information. Share the responses you receive with your group. Discuss both positive and negative responses and how to deal with them.

  • The Book of Mormon has answers—Practice answering questions your friends or family may have about the gospel, such as where we came from, why we are here, where we are going, and so on. As a group, find the answers in the Book of Mormon and role-play how you might share those answers.

Discussion

Encourage participants to talk about what they are learning. Discussions can take place before, during, or after the activity. You could ask questions like the following:

  • Why do you think it is important to share the Book of Mormon?

  • When have you felt the blessings of sharing the Book of Mormon with someone?

  • What feelings or impressions do you have about sharing the Book of Mormon?

  • How can you apply what you are learning in your life?
