Purpose

Sometimes you might feel uncertain about your future, especially as you grow older and make important decisions about education, family, and your commitment to the Lord. But you don’t have to feel alone. Through a patriarchal blessing, you can feel Heavenly Father’s love for you. Your blessing can help you to recognize some of the great things the Lord has in store for you.

Goal Description

Prepare to receive your patriarchal blessing by discovering what it is, why you should seek a patriarchal blessing, and how to get one.

Goal Ideas

  • Learn about patriarchal blessings. There is helpful information on LDS.org that you can read. You could also talk to a parent, leader, or even a patriarch about patriarchal blessings.

  • Pray for guidance to know how you can prepare to receive your patriarchal blessing. Heavenly Father knows you best. Through the Holy Ghost, you can feel direction about the things you need to do.

  • Think about your future. What are the talents and gifts the Lord has given you? How might you use them to bless others? Seek to know the Lord’s will and develop a willingness to accept it.

  • Talk to your bishop. He may have suggestions for deciding the right time for you to receive your blessing. Ask him for advice on how to prepare. Schedule an interview with your bishop to receive a recommend to receive a patriarchal blessing, and then make an appointment with the patriarch.

  • Create your own goal.
