To commemorate the 400th anniversary of the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible, the Religious Studies Center at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, is sponsoring an academic symposium on the role of the King James translation in the Restoration of the gospel.
Speakers will examine the role of the Bible in America in the days of Joseph Smith and the specific contributions of the King James translation to the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the teachings of Joseph Smith.
The symposium will be held on February 23–24, 2011, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. On Friday, February 25, a selection of speakers from the symposium will present at the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake City from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Admission to all of the events is free, and no registration is required. For more information, visit BYU’s Religious Studies Center online.
