Lesson 58: Mosiah 11:1–12:17

Prayerfully consider how the Book of Mormon Videos might help your students identify, understand, feel the truth and importance of, and apply the doctrine and principles taught in the Book of Mormon. Each suggested video is a short segment within an entire episode. Use the start and stop timecode to show each clip within the episode.

Using This Video

You could show this video segment when you arrive at the part of the lesson that states:

“Divide the class into pairs. Assign one partner to read Mosiah 11:1–6 silently and the other partner to read Mosiah 11:14–19 silently. Ask them to look for what kind of king Noah was and how his behavior influenced the people. Invite students to report what they find to their partners.”

Instead of inviting students to read Mosiah 11:1–6, 14–19, ask students to watch the video, looking for what kind of king Noah was and how his behavior influenced the people. After viewing the video, invite students to report what they find. As students share, invite them to mark words and phrases in verses 1–6, 14–19 that describe King Noah and his influence on others. Then proceed with the lesson as outlined in the teacher material.

You could show this video segment when you arrive at the part of the lesson that states:

“Invite several students to take turns reading aloud from Mosiah 12:9, 13–15. Ask the class to follow along, looking for how the people responded to Abinadi the second time he came among them.”

Instead of inviting students to read Mosiah 12:9, 13–15 you might display the following questions from the lesson and ask students to look for the answers as they watch the video segment.

“How did the people respond to Abinadi’s message?”

“What words or phrases in these verses indicate that the people had indeed become blind to the truth?”

After viewing the video, ask students to share their answers to the questions. Then invite students to search for words and phrases from Mosiah 12:9, 13–15 that indicate that the people had indeed become blind to the truth. Then proceed with the lesson as outlined in the teacher material.
