Moroni describes the destruction of his people.

Start and Stop Timecode: 0:35–2:05

Using This Video

You could show this video segment when you arrive at the part of the lesson that states:

“Summarize Mormon 8:1–12 by explaining that Mormon was killed after the last battle between the Nephites and the Lamanites, and his son Moroni was left alone, without any family members or any of his people. It is likely that at least 15 years passed between the time when Mormon wrote his final words and the time when Moroni began to write on the plates. Moroni finished and preserved the Book of Mormon record in order to help people of a future day repent and come unto Christ.”

After summarizing Mormon 8:1–12 as suggested in the lesson outline, you could show this video segment to help students understand and feel the gravity of Moroni’s situation. Then proceed with the lesson as outlined in the teacher material.

“Moroni Invites All to Come unto Christ” (1:24)

Moroni prophesies about the coming forth of the Book of Mormon in the latter days.

Start and Stop Timecode: 2:06–3:30

Using This Video

If time allows, you could show this video segment when you arrive near the end of the lesson where it states:

“Invite students to write in their class notebooks or study journals about how the Book of Mormon has blessed their lives. Consider asking a few students to share with the class what they wrote.”

Because this video segment depicts some of Moroni’s teachings in Mormon 8, you may find it helpful to show the segment near the end of this lesson. This could help students review what they have learned and write in their class notebooks about how the Book of Mormon has blessed their lives.
