George James

(1796–1864)

George James was a farmer who was born in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. He married Caroline Weed in Huron County, Ohio, in 1822. In June 1831, James was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and appointed to be ordained a priest (Doctrine and Covenants 52:38). That November he was ordained an elder. He was disfellowshipped for unknown reasons around 1834, but he was restored to fellowship by 1836.
