John A. Hicks

John A. Hicks was likely born in County Fermanagh, Ireland, and likely immigrated to Canada with his family in about 1820. He married Margaret Wilson in Upper Canada in 1834. He was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by July 1838 and moved to Nauvoo, Illinois, by May 1840. A January 1841 revelation stated that his priesthood responsibility was “to preside over the quorum of elders” in Nauvoo (Doctrine and Covenants 124:137). He was excommunicated in October 1841.
