Thomas Grover

Thomas Grover was born in Whitehall, New York. He married Caroline Whiting in 1828 and was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Warren A. Cowdery in 1834. The following year, Grover moved to Kirtland, Ohio. In 1836, he was ordained an elder and appointed to the Kirtland high council. With his family, he moved to Far West, Missouri, in 1837, where he again served on the high council. He was a member of a committee at Far West that supervised the removal of the Latter-day Saints from Missouri in 1839. That same year, he moved to Commerce, Illinois, which was later renamed Nauvoo, and was appointed to the high council there. In 1841, he was remarried to Caroline Nickerson Hubbard. Grover served three short missions during the early 1840s and migrated to the Salt Lake Valley, in Utah Territory, in October 1847.
