Selah Griffin

(ca. 1795–after 1860)

Selah Griffin was born in Virginia and married a woman named Polly. He was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by June 1831. After being ordained an elder by Joseph Smith, Griffin was called by revelation to serve a mission to Missouri in 1831 (Doctrine and Covenants 52:32; 56:5–6), which he fulfilled. He subsequently moved to Jackson County, Missouri. In 1833 he moved with the Saints to Clay County, Missouri. In February 1835, he was appointed a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy. That same year he was appointed a member of the Kirtland high council. In 1836 he moved to Caldwell County, Missouri. By 1840 he was living in Knox County, Illinois.
