Coordinating Council FSY Representative

Overview of Responsibilities

  1. Become familiar with the FSY website, particularly the FAQ, and refer stake Young Women and Young Men presidents and YSA stake Relief Society presidents to the website to answer any FSY questions.
    • For questions not answered on the website, reach out to your session administrator.
  2. Work directly with your FSY session administrator at Church headquarters.
  3. Act as a liaison between your FSY session administrator and all assigned stakes in your coordinating council area through the stake Young Women and Young Men presidents and YSA stake Relief Society presidents.
  4. Review YSA counselor recruitment with stake Young Women and Young Men presidents and YSA stake Relief Society presidents to ensure that all stakes are actively recruiting young single adult field staff.
  5. Monitor the Youth Report to help the stakes within your coordinating council area with youth approvals and registration.
  6. Support stake Young Women and Young Men presidents as they plan two or more stake FSY activities.

Other Leadership Responsibilities

Local leaders are key to the success of FSY. Their role is essential before, during, and after the conference.

  • Ensures stake Young Women and Young Men presidents are aware of their FSY-related responsibilities.
  • Supports the stake youth leadership committees and stake Young Women and Young Men presidents in determining the best way to promote and extend the FSY experience.

  • Monitors youth approvals and registrations.
  • If applicable, the stake Young Women president will coordinate transportation of youth from the stake center to the FSY location.
  • Supports stake youth leadership in planning and executing stake FSY activities before and after the FSY session(s).
  • Answers questions from the ward FSY representatives.
  • If no stake disability specialist is called, they will fulfill the duties normally delegated to that calling.

Stakes are not required to call a stake FSY representative. However, they can be an invaluable support. Encourage the stake Young Women and Young Men presidents to speak with their stake presidency if they would like one called.

  • Supports the stake Young Women and Young Men presidents.

Stakes are not required to call a stake disability specialist. However, they can be an invaluable support to the youth and parents in the stake with disabilities.

  • Ensures ward disability specialists are aware of youth in their unit who require accommodations.
  • Supports in in planning and executing stake FSY activities before and after the FSY session(s) to ensure appropriate accommodations are in place.

  • Calls a ward FSY representative.
  • Encourages young single adults to apply for FSY counselor positions.
  • Approves youth to attend FSY using the bishopric approval tool.
  • Encourages youth to register soon after registration opens.
  • Supports all stake FSY activities.

  • Works with the stake Young Women and Young Men presidents, ward youth organization leaders, parents, and youth.
  • Acts as a liaison between the stake Young Women and Young Men presidents and the ward.
  • Provides registration information to all eligible youth and encourages them to register.
  • Encourages all highly qualified young single adults to apply to be FSY counselors.
  • When required, coordinates transportation with the stake Young Women and Young Men presidents.
  • Supports efforts and events before and after FSY.
  • If no ward disability specialist is called, they will also fill the duties normally delegated to that calling.

Wards are not required to call a ward disability specialist. However, they can be an invaluable support to the youth and parents in the ward with disabilities.

  • Works with youth and parents in their unit who require accommodations to ensure they know how to register and request necessary accommodations.
  • Provides a list of youth and their needed accommodations to the stake disability specialist for use in planning the stake FSY activities.

  • Works with young single adults and the stake Young Women and Young Men presidents or, in a YSA stake, the YSA stake Relief Society president.
  • Supports and encourages FSY counselor recruitment.

  • With the support of the stake Young Women and Young Men presidents, plans and executes stake FSY activities before and after the session(s)
  • Supports the stake and ward leaders in organizing efforts around youth registration, transportation, etc.
