What is FSY?

YSA Montage - 2:11

For the Strength of Youth (FSY) conferences are modeled after Brigham Young University’s popular Especially for Youth (EFY) conferences. You will experience powerful classes and devotionals, learn crazy new dance moves and games, and strengthen your faith in Jesus Christ. You will share these experiences with youth as you lead, mentor, and serve them. Take this chance to meet new people in your area with similar beliefs who may just turn out to become lifelong friends, and learn and grow together in a fun and faith-filled environment.

Counselors are selected from young single adults because of their ability to strengthen youth, teach the doctrine of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and motivate in a kind and uplifting manner. Approval from a member of your bishopric is required. If a member of your bishopric has not already approved you, use this link to tell them you’re interested. Counselors typically serve within the region of the United States or Canada where they live during the summer.  Housing and food while serving will be provided, but you will be responsible to arrange transportation to and from the conference to which you are assigned. For counselors, sessions begin on the Saturday morning before youth arrive on Monday for the week. Counselors will be given training over the weekend to help them be successful and prepare for their session. Counselors will continue to serve until the youth check out the following Saturday morning. If a counselor has already served a week that summer, they will arrive on campus Sunday evening, then continue until the youth check out the following Saturday morning. Every counselor will serve a minimum of one week, but may volunteer for more, if desired. Young single adult counselors are the key to the success and growth of the youth who attend FSY.

“You’re missing out if you don’t come!” —Jazz

Join in this unique opportunity to meet new friends, strengthen your testimony, develop leadership skills, and find joy serving youth and the Lord.  Mentor the youth in your group, lead them in activities, and share with them your love for the Savior.

Jazz - 1:37

Chris - 1:39

What are FSY counselors saying about their experience?

“What I liked most about FSY was the relationships I was able to build: relationships with the youth, relationships with the other counselors, and most importantly the relationship with my Savior Jesus Christ.” —Candyce

“Seeing these wonderful youth grow and develop is just the greatest thing in the world.” —Naoki

“The biggest benefit for me was I was able to make friends that I’m still friends with now but most of all get out of my comfort zone, gain confidence in myself and my ability to make decisions.” —Addie

FSY counselors have a strong testimony of Jesus Christ and His restored gospel, and they promote principles consistent with Church doctrine. They are worthy to enter the temple, able to help youth understand the scriptures, and uphold the standards taught in the For the Strength of Youth booklet. They are humble, reliable, and have a positive attitude.
