William Huntington

(1784–1846)

William Huntington was born in New Grantham, New Hampshire, in 1784. He married Zina Baker in 1806. In April 1835, Huntington was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he was ordained an elder later that year. In October 1836, he moved to Kirtland, Ohio, where he was appointed to the high council. In May 1839, after a brief sojourn in Far West, Missouri, he moved to Commerce, Illinois, which was later renamed Nauvoo, where he was appointed a member of the high council. In July 1839, Huntington’s wife passed away, and in 1840 he married Lydia Clisbee Partridge. He died in Pisgah, Iowa Territory, in 1846.
