Frequently Asked Questions about Media Library

General and Permission Questions

What is the Media Library?

Do I need permission to use media that I find in Media Library? Much of the content on the Media Library site and app may be used for personal, non-commercial purposes or in connection with your Church calling without permission. However, due to copyright and intellectual property laws, if you have any questions about how you may be using media, then please double-check our Permission to use Church-owned Content page.

Can I share media that I find in Media Library on social media?

Yes. In fact, we encourage it! Because sharing methods vary with different kinds of media, we have specific instructions for how to share videos and how to share images.

What are the restrictions for images?

Most images are available for download. They may be used for noncommercial, personal, and Church-related purposes unless otherwise indicated.

Why can’t I find a video on Media Library?

We strive to provide as many videos as possible, but due to some copyright restrictions certain videos may not be available online.

If you’re searching for a new video, we may be in the process of adding it to our site, so check back often!

Feel free to let us know if there is a specific video you are looking for, and we’ll see if we can add it.

Why can’t I download a video?

Although many items are available for download, some are not due to copyright restrictions. However, media files that can’t be downloaded can still be streamed and shared.

Can I share images on social media or my website?

Yes! We encourage you to share as often as you’d like. To the right of each image are Share icons for social media sites.

If you would like to put an image on your blog or website, we ask that you link the image back to where you found it on Media Library so others may use and download it too!

How do I view videos with captions?

Most videos on Media Library can be streamed with closed captioning. You can toggle captions on and off by clicking the CC button that appears at the bottom of the video player. Some videos also have closed captioning in additional languages, which, if available, appear and can be selected by clicking the CC button.

If you wish to view captions in video downloads, you will need to download and install the video player VLC. (Sorry, neither Windows Media Player nor QuickTime support captions.) VLC is available for Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Android, and iOS.

Why did the video stop playing while streaming?

Issues with streaming are typically due to a bandwidth problem, meaning you have a bad internet connection or too many people are trying to access the internet near you. We encourage you to download videos to limit streaming issues. If downloading is not an option, we suggest refreshing your browser, verifying you have a strong internet signal, or waiting to access media at a different time when internet traffic may be lower.

How can I download or show videos without an internet connection?

To avoid potential buffering problems, you can download the video and then play it from a computer or mobile device. Some of the videos in Media Library are not available for download due to copyright and intellectual property laws and require an internet connection to play.

  • Download media directly from Media Library. After locating the video, click the Download button below the video player.
How can I search just for images or videos?

If you use the search bar on Media Library, there is an option to narrow your results to specific media like images, videos, magazines, general conference addresses, and additional categories.
