Emma Hale Smith

1804–1879

“We are going to do something extraordinary.”

• Emma married Joseph Smith, and she went with Joseph to get the plates from the Hill Cumorah.

• When Joseph translated the plates, she was the first one to help write down the words.

• God called her to make a hymnbook for the Church.

• She was the first Relief Society President.

• When Joseph was 14, he prayed to know which church was true. Heavenly Father and Jesus appeared to him.

• He helped restore Jesus Christ’s Church.

• He translated the gold plates so we can read the Book of Mormon today.

• God gave him revelations (messages). They are written in the Doctrine and Covenants.
