“February,” Friend, Feb. 1990, 24

February is a good time

To get a picture book,

Find a cozy place to sit,

And look, look, look!

It’s also a good time

To make a big snowman

And pop a lot of popcorn—

Enough to fill a pan.

The shortest month of the year

Is a favorite month of mine;

I cut and glue fancy paper

To make a valentine.

February is a good time

To call Grandma and say, “Hi!

Why don’t you come for lunch today?

We’re having cherry pie!”

Happy Valentine! After reading the poem, here are some other fun things that you can do in February:

  • Write the rhyming words in the poem.

  • Draw something associated with February.

  • Make a silhouette of a hero and/or a famous person who was born in this month.

  • Memorize your favorite four lines of this poem.
