Sorry, son. I’m pretty sure that super strength, flight, and super speed are not among the gifts of the Spirit.

Solving in Circles

What’s the best part of going on vacation? Coming back home again and realizing how much you missed the place! OK, so maybe that’s not always the best part. But when it comes to solving this puzzle, it is. Your goal is to end up “back home.”

Starting at the first word, change the previous word by only one letter to reach the new word. At the end, you’ll be only one letter away from the original word.

  1. Jesus taught, “Ye are the ____ of the earth,” but warned that we need to keep our savour.

  2. Loose sedimentary rock, often found by a river.

  3. A horizontal board, such as below a window.

  4. To grind wheat into flour.

  5. “And whosoever shall compel thee to go a _____, go with him twain” (Matthew 5:41).

  6. Deep mud. Wet, spongy ground.

  7. Something a bike-riding missionary must keep in top shape. (Patch kit, anyone?)

  8. Spiritually speaking, you definitely want to be wheat. Not this. (See Matthew 13.)

  9. A sharp or acidic taste, such as is sometimes in apples.

  10. Between this and a horse, it pays to know which to put first.

  11. Another word for store or market, occasionally included in actual store names.

  12. This powder, made from grains, is often mixed in candy and milkshakes.
