Jeremiah 9–10

Jeremiah Weeps and Prays for Judah

Some have called Jeremiah the “weeping” prophet because of the sad message he delivered and because he saw his prophecies fulfilled concerning the destruction of the people of Judah. Like all men of God, Jeremiah loved the people and tried to prevent their destruction, but he could not avoid telling them the truth about what would happen if they did not repent. Jeremiah 9 is an example of Jeremiah’s “weeping” over Judah’s approaching destruction because they continued to worship and trust in idols. Jeremiah 10 ends with a prayer of sadness.
