The Millennium
One of the reasons Isaiah’s writings are so great is that they explain so much of the great plan of God and the central role of Jesus Christ as our Savior in that plan. In Isaiah we read about events that occurred in the premortal life as well as those that will occur during the Millennium. Isaiah 65–66 speaks about the Millennium. In verses 1–16 of Isaiah 65, however, the Lord concluded His message to the Israelites of Isaiah’s day. He told them He had always been available to help and redeem them (see vv. 1–2, 12), but they chose wickedness instead (see vv. 3–4, 11).
Because the Lord loved the Israelites, He promised to not completely destroy them (see vv. 8–10). He also promised He would try to give the same blessings they rejected to future generations of Israelites and to others as well (see vv. 13–15). Even in punishing Israel, we sense the great love that the Lord has for them and for all people.
