Seven Days of Sharing

You can share the gospel in normal and natural ways. Are you up for the challenge?

When we talk about sharing our testimonies, we often think of bearing our testimonies in sacrament meeting or some other formal setting. But we have been encouraged to “look for opportunities to bring up your faith in natural and normal ways.”1

In the seven-day challenge below, you can share your testimony in a different way every day for a week. You can do these things in any order, or you can even come up with your own ideas! Are you up for the challenge?

Day 1: Church

Consider bearing your testimony in a fast and testimony meeting in church if that’s something you’re comfortable with. If not, you can also share your testimony in church by participating in your classes on Sunday and in seminary. The comments you share there can uplift others and strengthen their testimonies as well as yours.

Day 2: Friends

What did you learn in church on Sunday? Did you like what someone shared in a sacrament meeting talk or in your class discussion? Maybe the opening song was one of your favorite hymns. Tell a friend about it! Then ask about their weekend too.

Day 3: Social Media

Social media is a great place to share spiritual things normally and naturally. For this day of the challenge, consider sharing a post about:

  • One of your favorite scripture verses.

  • An uplifting quote from general conference.

  • A spiritual thought or experience.

  • Something you love or appreciate about the Savior.

  • A way He has helped you recently or a quality you admire in Him and why.

Day 4: Text or Video

Send an uplifting message to a friend through text or video. You could share a conference talk you think they might like, tell them something you appreciate about them, or share about your faith in Jesus Christ. For instance, they might need to know about Heavenly Father’s love for them. You can always tell them in person too!

Day 5: Service

You might wonder how serving others can be a way to share your testimony. The Apostle Paul told Timothy, “Be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12). So you can show your beliefs through your example, by serving others as the Savior would serve them.

Day 6: Art

Sometimes people use art as a different way to share their thoughts and feelings. You can use paintings, sculptures, poetry, music, or any other kinds of art to share how you feel about Jesus Christ and His gospel.

Day 7: Casual Conversations

Don’t be afraid to mention your beliefs in casual settings, just like you would share any other thoughts you have about a given topic.

You can, of course, talk about Church activities or a scripture you read recently, but it can also be even more casual than that. For example:

  • If you feel inspired by nature, express your appreciation of God’s creations to someone else.

  • Maybe you had a cool spiritual experience recently. Tell a friend about it if it’s not too personal.

  • Find gospel analogies in a book or movie you like, and share your insights.

Normal and Natural

As you find different ways to share your beliefs, it will become more and more natural for you to do so. It might feel awkward at first, but that’s okay! Remember, your testimony by itself is already natural to you—it’s part of who you are. Sharing it can become natural too. All it takes is expressing it a little more each day.

How will you share your testimony today?
