Hello from Madagascar!
Madagascar is a country is on the east coast of southern Africa. Around 30 million people live there. Their official languages are Malagasy and French.
Surrounded by Water
Madagascar is the fourth-largest island in the world.
Stone Formations
Tsingy de Bemahara National Park has stone forests made of limestone. Some of the formations are 328 feet (100 m) tall!
Making Vanilla
Madagascar grows vanilla that is sold around the world. The country produces about 3,300 tons (3,000 metric tons) of vanilla a year!
The Baobab Tree
The baobab is the national tree of Madagascar and can live for more than 1,000 years. A baobab tree provides people with fruit to eat, bark to make rope out of, and shelter from the sun.
Special Animals
There are many different types of lemurs. All of them come from Madagascar.
Another animal from this country is the zebu, which is a type of cattle that people use for farming, milk, and travel.
