Preparing to Hear the Word of God

When King Benjamin spoke to his people, he asked that they open their ears and hearts that they might hear and understand (see Mosiah 2:9). His invitation teaches us how we can prepare to hear the word of God.

King Benjamin’s statement that “when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God” (Mosiah 2:17) helps us understand the spiritual significance of helping others. In what ways does serving others bring us closer to God?
