4 Ways to Find Peace in Hard Times

During hard times, life can feel overwhelming. But God knows what you’re going through. He can help you find true peace.

Life is full of challenges, and it can sometimes feel hard to find true peace. Life events and current affairs can be a source of fear, sorrow, and anxiety. Turning to God won’t necessarily get rid of your pain, but it can help you find a little comfort.

1

Turn to Jesus

During difficult times, it can be hard to imagine that anyone understands our struggles. We can feel hopeless, isolated, and overcome with despair. But there is one person who understands everything you’re feeling. Jesus has experienced all your pain and fear. He knows your worries and anxieties, and He can help you get through them. He lived, suffered, and died for each one of us so we’d never have to be alone.

You can find greater peace as you reach out to Jesus and leave some of your worries to Him. He can help carry them when you don’t feel strong enough. Jesus wants you to be happy—He’s always there to offer support during hard times.

2

Listen to the Holy Spirit

Jesus can also send the Holy Spirit, or Holy Ghost, to comfort you. Sometimes the Holy Spirit can arrive as a warm feeling or a reassuring voice in your head. Have you ever had a thought or feeling that made you feel peaceful or helped you make a hard decision? That’s how the Holy Spirit speaks to us.

Other times, the Holy Spirit might inspire other people to help you. God sometimes uses us to help share the love He has for His children. If you feel prompted to serve someone, that may be the Holy Spirit encouraging you to reach out.

3

Study the scriptures

You can also find peace as you study God’s word in the scriptures. Scripture study can be a good time to reflect on your relationship with God and remember His promises to you.
