Gaëtan Kelounou was called as an Area Seventy in April 2021. Elder Kelounou is from Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo. He currently works for the Church as a coordinator for Seminaries and Institutes of Religion.

Prior to that, he worked for four years as the director of oil operations for African Oil and Gas Corporation. Elder Kelounou holds a bachelor’s degree in networks and telecommunication.

Before this call, he was serving as counsellor in the Republic of Congo Brazzaville Mission presidency. His previous callings include serving as full-time missionary, a bishop, high councillor, mission presidency member, and stake presidency member. He was also a financial assistant for the DR-Congo Kinshasa Mission in Brazzaville for nine years.

Elder Kelounou and his wife, Cornelie Omfoura, are the parents of six children. They currently reside in Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo.

Elder Kelounou says he is very grateful for this new opportunity to serve as a witness of the Lord and to become an instrument in His hands, “not only to help move His work forward but also to turn men’s hearts to Him for their salvation,” he says. “I know Russell M. Nelson is the prophet of His church and I am very grateful to have them in my life.”
