Alfred Kyungu

Alfred Kyungu Kibamba was born in Kamina, Democratic Republic of the Congo, on 31 October 1966.

He worked in several positions for the Democratic Republic of the Congo government and for the Church as a coordinator and regional director for Seminaries and Institutes and as a family history manager.

Elder Kyungu received both bachelor of science and master of science degrees in social sciences and international relations from the University of Lubumbashi.

An Area Seventy at the time of his call, he has also served as an institute teacher, district clerk, ward Sunday School teacher, ward Sunday School president, counsellor in a bishopric, high councillor, counsellor in a stake presidency and president of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Mbuji-Mayi Mission from 2016 to 2019. Elder Kyungu and his wife, Lucie Kabulo Malala, are the parents of three children.

In this new position, Elder Kyungu says he is looking forward to “expressing the love of our Heavenly Father and sharing the teachings and example of the Saviour with humankind”. Elder Kyungu says his desire is to invite the world to come unto Christ and to hear His voice; to immerse himself in the scriptures and to receive answers to questions through the power of the Holy Ghost.
