1 Corinthians 15:20–22

20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.

21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

Jesus Christ died on the cross, was laid in a tomb, and rose from the dead on the third day.

firstfruits of them that slept

The Greek word used here for firstfruits means the earliest crop of the year. It is the first to be harvested—the first of more to come.

The phrase them that slept means “those who have died.”

Jesus Christ was the first to be resurrected, and after His Resurrection, all people will be resurrected.

by man came death

This is talking about Adam. His fall meant that all people who would come into the world would die. (See Moses 4.)

in Christ shall all be made alive

Because of Jesus Christ’s Resurrection, all people will be resurrected. That means that everyone who has ever lived or will ever live will be resurrected. Our spirits will reunite with our bodies, and our bodies will be perfected and immortal. (See Alma 11:43–45.)
