Summer Symphony

By Marilyn Helmer

Crickets strum on guitar wings,

Grasshoppers twang their violin strings,

A bullfrog beats his throaty drum,

And bees in the honeysuckle add their hum.

While wind plays a flute through ripply leaves,

Birds whistle songs on a passing breeze.

Nature tunes up and plays for me

Her bright summer evening symphony.
