EnglishConnect for Missionaries Experience

EnglishConnect can help you learn English “by study and also by faith” (Doctrine and Covenants 88:118).

Getting Started

• In the MTC: Attend an orientation meeting and receive the EnglishConnect 1 and 2 workbooks. If you have not received your workbooks, contact your mission leader.

• First 12 Weeks Infield: Complete missionary “Steps for Success” at missionary.englishconnect.org/missionary.

Language Study

Use your language study time to learn English on your own and with your companion. You can use EnglishConnect with or without a native English-speaking companion.

• Use the manuals and resources to complete personal and companion practice activities. See “What Do I Do During Daily Language Study?”

• Practice English throughout the day and in your apartment.

Track Progress

• Complete scheduled language-learning assessments.

• Use these assessments to evaluate your progress and identify areas to improve.

Certification

• Final Transfer: Complete the final assessment, receive your English level certificate, and, if you desire, apply to BYU–Pathway Worldwide.

• Return Home: Use the certificate on résumés and in job interviews.
