TRC Teaching

While at the MTC, you will teach several people at the TRC who will be themselves. Your teacher will provide information for each appointment in advance. Record these appointments in your daily planner during weekly planning.

Prepare for each visit by studying portions from the lessons in chapter 3 of Preach My Gospel and using TALL and your language study guide.

Purpose	Appointments
Get to know the volunteer, establish expectations, and share a simple overview of a lesson in chapter 3.	Week 3: 2 visits—20 minutes each
	Week 7: 1 visit—40 minutes
	Week 11: 1 visit—40 minutes
Help the volunteer learn how to receive answers to his or her prayers.	Week 4: 2 visits—20 minutes each
	Week 8: 1 visit—40 minutes
Help the volunteer learn how to receive inspiration by reading the Book of Mormon.	Week 5: 2 visits—20 minutes each
	Week 9: 1 visit—40 minutes
Help the volunteer learn how to receive revelation at church.	Week 6: 2 visits—20 minutes each
	Week 10: 1 visit—40 minutes

After each appointment, evaluate your experience by answering the following questions:

• What evidence have I seen or felt that this person is coming unto Christ?

• What were the person’s needs?

• How can the lesson from chapter 3 of Preach My Gospel help meet his or her needs?

• What actually helped the person?

• What invitations were extended?

• What can I improve in my teaching to better help others come unto Christ?

Set goals and make plans for improvement (e.g., improve language skills, learn doctrine, etc.) and record your goals in your daily planner.

Week 2

We just finished teaching at the TRC. I was really nervous at first to speak in the language. We met a man named Ross. He was open to our message, and we had an amazing conversation about God’s love for us and how He sends prophets. We invited him to pray and he agreed. He said such a sincere prayer.
