My Temple Testimony
I will forever be grateful to my Heavenly Father, and to my father, Teodoro Alvarez, for always being with me and guiding me back into the fold of the Church. One day, my dad came to my house and said, “Daisy, my daughter, I’m going to church on Sunday.”
That day was fast and testimony meeting. He stood up, bore his testimony, and reintroduced me to the Church. He told the brethren, “Take care of my daughter.”
Since then, I have been attending church regularly, and I have always said that wherever the Lord tells me to work, I will be there.
It was historic for our island when President Russell M. Nelson announced in general conference that there would be a temple in Puerto Rico. All of us as members of the Church jumped for joy and excitement because we had been praying to be blessed with a temple on our island.
I thank God for the opportunity to work as the executive secretary alongside the temple event coordinators, Brother Hector Alvarez, and his wife, Sister Amarilis Santiago, as we prepared for the open house of the San Juan Puerto Rico Temple. Serving in this great work was special beyond words to me. The way everything was coordinated with dedication, camaraderie, and humility displayed a strong Spirit of the Lord. Participating in this work increases my love to give and continue serving.
I testify that when one serves with a willing heart, blessings increase and now my blessings continue as I work in the temple. Temple workers have beautiful humble feelings as we work alongside of those brothers and sisters that come to perform sacred ordinances.
“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58).
