Two cities in the Central District serve together as the capital of Honduras, Tegucigalpa and Comayagüela. The first congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Honduras was organized in 1953. Today, the Church in Honduras has:

  • 183,400 members (approximately)

  • 31 stakes, 236 wards and branches, 4 missions

  • 1 temple in Tegucigalpa, 1 being built in San Pedro Sula
