Tesano Stake Youth in Accra, Ghana: Start Right, Stay Right, End Right!

During this past year, the leaders of the Ghana Tesano Stake have been holding conferences for the rising generation. The theme for 2021 was “A Great Work” (Start Right, Stay Right, End Right).

Setting goals, working hard to achieve those goals, and then rewarding themselves with a day of football, cycling and running was exactly what the young men of the Ghana Tesano Stake did. The bishops and Aaronic Priesthood leaders became the coaches, and they were encouraged to see so many of their young men work towards this sports day by inviting others to come and join them at church, at seminary and at the Youth League Day. The fostering of brotherhood and friendship among the Young Men that had been taking place long before the Youth League Day was obvious as the competitors cheered each other on to play their hardest and do their best.

Each of the Young Men quorums, in all eight wards within the Ghana Tesano Stake, embraced the following goals:

  1. Hold regular quorum meetings to identify and to discuss each young man and his needs.

  2. Identify less active quorum members. Visit and fellowship each of them.

  3. Invite and bring to church those that they had reached out to and invite friends to attend.

  4. Participate actively in seminary.

  5. Work on their Child and Youth Development goals.

Brother Joseph Ohene Djan Asante, a priesthood leader shared, “We are grateful that the Lord, through His inspiration and direction, guided this activity and that it came to reality with the help of the stake presidency. We feel this is a great step in hastening the work of salvation among the young men in the Lord’s kingdom. Through this activity, we can increase the teaching pool of the missionaries within the Ghana Tesano Stake. This is one of our drives in identifying youth and to increase active participation in church attendance and activities.”

The young men of the Tesano Stake realized that by setting goals and working consistently on those goals brings great happiness and hastens the work of salvation. Start right, stay right, end right. At the end of the Youth League Day everyone realized they were all champions.
