The 2021 Philippines Area Plan Let God Prevail

Just as boats and airplanes need a compass to determine the direction where it is headed and houses need plans before it is built, the Church in the Philippines has crafted a plan to further move the work of the Lord in this part of the world.

My dear brothers and sisters, we, as an Area Presidency, are here to present to you the Philippines Area Plan. This plan has been crafted and adjusted after much prayer and fasting by not just the Area Presidency and the Area Council, but it has also been reviewed by selected men and women who have provided valuable inputs to make it more responsive to the needs of members in the Philippines. Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and Elder Carl B. Cook of the Presidency of the Seventy, who supervise this area, have given their blessing for this plan.

From the new design of the area plan you will see that it still centers on the Lord Jesus Christ with the admonition of President Russell M. Nelson in the header to “Let God Prevail.” In the October 2020 General Conference, President Nelson posed this question to all of us: “Are you willing to let God prevail in your life? Are you willing to let God be the most important influence in your life?”

We have been given the antidote to sadness, confusion, and pain. We are challenged to center our lives on Jesus Christ especially during these tough times. President Nelson emphasized the factor of “willingness” if we are to let God prevail in our lives. It will not be forced on us nor should it be a halfhearted effort. It should be exhibited by a sincere desire and a conscious effort to follow.

The plan has the vision statement: “We will let God prevail in our lives by exercising faith in our Heavenly Father in His Son Jesus Christ and His Atonement, and by obeying the commandments, making and keeping sacred covenants, and establishing God’s Kingdom on the earth.”
