Finding Joy in Service
Illustrations by Katelyn Budge
One December, I suggested to my family that we have a charity drive for Christmas. I know that when you don’t have a home, it’s not easy to get money or food, and I felt bad that some people wouldn’t get to experience Christmas.
My family gathered some food and toys and gave them away to people in need. I was excited because I hadn’t done anything like that before. The people were very grateful, and I felt satisfied that I’d impacted them in a positive way and made them feel seen. It made me feel more connected to the Savior because He was a generous and caring person. Embodying His attributes strengthened my relationship with Him.
I think ministering is about being aware of the people around you. It’s about seeing what you can do, even if it’s small, to make a difference in someone’s life.
