Keys to Joy

Michael T. Nelson

For the Strength of Youth: A Guide for Making Choices invites us to find joy in Jesus Christ ([2022], 34). The Savior said, “These things have I spoken unto you, … that your joy might be full” (John 15:11). But what were the things He spoke? “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit” (John 15:5). We must connect with Christ to bring forth the fruit of joy. We do that through covenants. (See page 2 in this issue.)

We can’t speak about joy without also speaking about our bodies, for they are a key to receiving “a fulness of joy” (Doctrine and Covenants 138:17). No wonder the guide says, “Your body is sacred” (22). Satan may try to tell you your body is ugly, but that’s because he will never have one. Don’t listen to him. (See pages 8, 14, 22, and 27 in this issue.)

As you connect with Christ and “treat your body—and others’ bodies—with respect” (For the Strength of Youth guide, 24), you will find joy.

With love,

Michael T. Nelson
