Just Like Me
I saw an old picture,
All funny and brown,
Of a very old house
In a very small town.
Standing in front of
This very old house
Was a little girl just like me.
She wore a long dress
And a black velvet hat.
A china doll lay
On the step where she sat.
Ready to pick up
Her white china doll
Was a little girl just like me.
Someone had told her
To pause in her play
For the picture he took
On that long-ago day.
I wish I could meet her
As she used to be,
When my grandma
Was just like me.
