Toothpick Fish

Jesus would like all of us to be fishers of men, but quite often we forget to help our fellowmen. Make these pretty toothpick fish to hang on lampshades, in windows, or wherever you’re most apt to see them to remind you to be a fisher of men.

To make a fish, you will need: 1/2″ x 6″ (1.3 cm x 15 cm) strip of cardboard, glue, flat toothpicks, pencil, scissors, thread, and paint or colored felt-tip pens.

  1. Glue toothpicks on one side of cardboard strip (see illustration).

  2. Let glue dry completely, then lightly draw fish outline on glued toothpicks and cut around outline.

  3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 on other side of cardboard strip, using already-cut outline as guide.

  4. Color fish, then tie thread to fish so that it hangs evenly, as though it were swimming.
