A Powerful Example of Sacrifice

As part of their conversion, the Anti-Nephi-Lehies made a covenant with God that they would bury their weapons and never fight again. What sacrifices are we willing to make to become better converted to the Lord?

  • Unwavering Commitment to Jesus Christ.” In this general conference address, Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles teaches that “being converted unto the Lord starts with an unwavering commitment to God, followed by making that commitment part of who we are.”

  • The Purifying Path of Obedience, Sacrifice, and Consecration.” This article from the Ensign looks at the story of the Anti-Nephi-Lehies and all that they did to obey the commandments after they were converted.

  • Will You Go?” In this New Era article, Elder David F. Evans of the Seventy shares how he had to sacrifice to go on a mission. He teaches that this doesn’t happen only to missionaries but to all of us throughout our lives.

  • The No-Fighting Promise.” Madi and Timmy make a promise not to fight, just like the Anti-Nephi-Lehies.

Joy in Missionary Work

Alma and the sons of Mosiah came together and talked of their success in bringing people to the Lord. They found true joy in being instruments in the hands of God (see Alma 26:3; 29:9).
