Watford Stake Relief Society Enjoy Overnight Camp

Relief Society sisters, and girls of eight years and older, gathered for Watford Stake’s Fourth Annual Women’s Campfire and Overnight Camp, at the Braidwood Scout & Guide Campsite, near Asheridge, Buckinghamshire.

Sister Linda Sheppard, Stake Relief Society President, had been anxious earlier in a week of heavy rain and strong winds, as well as floods in parts of England. However, the morning of Friday, June 21, dawned bright and clear, and the sun shone on both the Friday and the Saturday of the camp.

Women and girls joined together to ‘build their campfire of faith’ as they sang and shared testimonies around the fire on Friday evening.

Saturday morning began with a devotional from the Primary girls and leaders, followed by a walk in the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside.

Everyone then enjoyed campfire cooking and ‘pebble art’ before camp broke.

Sister Linda Sheppard said, “This short overnight camp gives girls and women of all ages and backgrounds an opportunity to form friendships and be strengthened in their faith. It is lovely for girls to rekindle the spirit they felt at Young Women’s Camp. It is especially valuable for the Primary girls who attend with their mums. By the time they are old enough for Young Women’s Camp they have already formed friendships in the stake. Those who attended are looking forward to next year.”
