Forgiveness—Seventy Times Seven

Christ taught Peter that we shouldn’t put a limit on the number of times we forgive. Instead, we should forgive all people.

Articles

  • Forgiveness: Our Challenge and Our Blessing” by Steve F. Gilliland, from the Ensign magazine. Forgiving others isn’t always easy. Read about a few personal accounts and the steps we can take to find it in our heart to forgive those who have wronged us.

  • Forgiving Myself” by Justice Pinter. Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is ourselves. Teens will appreciate this brief article from the New Era about one young man’s personal struggle.

Activity

  • Pebble of Forgiveness” by Jane McBride Choate. Kids will enjoy this short, true story from the Friend about a young boy who must learn to forgive his older brother. Read it aloud together.

  • Your Jericho Road,” a First Presidency Message from the Ensign. Always a wonderful storyteller, President Thomas S. Monson (1927–2018) shares a few experiences, including one from his own life, to illustrate how we can serve others like the good Samaritan.

  • A Latter-day Samaritan.” In this general conference address, Elder Merlin R. Lybbert, former member of the Seventy, gives historical context for the parable of the good Samaritan and then explains how each of us can bind up the wounds of those injured and sick in body and spirit.
