The theme is “Meditations on Belief.” The contest is open to all Church members ages 18 and older.

Saving That Which Was Lost

This painting by Michael Malm, titled Saving That Which Was Lost, is from a previous international art competition sponsored by the Church.

“I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old. I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings” (Psalm 77:11–12).

If that scripture inspires you to create art, you’re invited to participate in “Meditations on Belief,” the 11th International Art Competition, sponsored by the Church History Museum in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, which began in February and will accept entries until June 1, 2018.

The contest is open to all members of the Church ages 18 and older.

According to competition details on history.lds.org, “the purpose of this competition is first, to showcase the breadth and diversity of Latter-day Saint artists, and second, to help develop the Church History Museum art collection through purchase awards. In fact, many well-beloved pieces of Latter-day Saint artwork have come from these competitions.”

Jurors will evaluate the artwork based on three criteria: artistic merit, innovation, and thematic alignment. Awards will be announced in October 2018. Selected entries will be displayed at the Church History Museum and online approximately between March 2019 and October 2019.
