On 6 April 1830, the Church was organized by the Prophet Joseph Smith at the home of Peter Whitmer, Sr., in Fayette, New York. Among those present were Oliver Cowdery, Hyrum Smith, Peter Whitmer, Jr., David Whitmer, and Samuel H. Smith.
