This Month’s Theme: With the Savior, You Can Do Hard Things
Dear readers,
I recently started getting into a new hobby. I watched videos and tried some things out on my own, but I eventually decided to get to know people who also liked my hobby and attend a local event.
Being there was harder than I’d expected. I made mistakes. I didn’t know the rules very well. I didn’t feel welcome in this new community. After I got home, I realized I had a choice to make. I could tough it out and keep going, or I could stay home and quit.
I bounced between two states of mind:
1. I can definitely do hard things.
2. Hard things are just so … hard, so why bother?
Sound familiar?
Life is full of hard things. And living in the world while striving to not be of the world can sometimes present other challenges. This month we’ve tailored our articles to affirm this important message: with the Savior, you can do hard things.
Here are some messages we share this month:
-
How a young adult from Greece realizes she can do hard things with Christ’s help
-
How a young adult in Colombia is including Christ in her fight against pornography
-
How a young adult in Mongolia gained a testimony of the law of chastity
-
How a young adult from Wales is learning to view the gospel in a positive light after struggling with perfectionism
-
How a young adult in Brazil is finding hope and strength by attending institute
We also have stories that are part of our ongoing series:
-
Life Skills: Read advice for managing your personal finances and making a budget (because managing money is hard!).
-
Questions and Answers: How do you keep hope and faith alive when facing challenges that don’t go away? One young adult shares what she has learned through her battle with a chronic illness.
-
Especially for Newlyweds: If you and your spouse have struggled with pornography, a young couple offers insights that will help you know how to support each other.
Life is full of hard things. But you’re not alone. You can do hard things. You can do all things through Christ (see Philippians 4:13).
I know you can do it.
With love,
Henry Sorensen, YA Weekly Editorial Intern
