Nervous no more

In the November 1992 issue, there were many articles on the British Isles. I may be moving there and I was very nervous about it. I read those articles, though, and now I know no matter where I go I will have the Spirit with me and the people of the Church will welcome me.

I was about to

I would like to thank you for the story “Other Fish” in the November 1992 issue. I was about to make a large mistake in a relationship I was involved in. I read the story and decided to review my relationship. Without that story, I believe I would have made a serious mistake. Thank you. Keep up the great work.

Bridging the gap

When I read the article “Darrell, His Mission, and Me” (May 1993), it made me do a lot of thinking. My brother left to go on his mission to North Carolina on July 28. I’ve never really gotten along with him because we’re five years apart. But I started writing him letters, and I feel a lot better about our relationship because he knows a lot more about my feelings. I’m really grateful for the article.

They help

I grew up in a very loving family, and my whole life was centered around the gospel of Jesus Christ. I was first assistant in the priests quorum, and I served a mission. Shortly after returning home from my mission, I was arrested for a very serious crime. I was sentenced to 15 years in prison and excommunicated from the Church. As I sit here thinking of the many mistakes I made in life, I am now getting my life back together. Each month I receive the New Era, and I learn from each article I read. I use them in my daily walk in life, and they help me and lift me in times of despair.

Life is much easier

I’ve been getting the New Era for three years now, and my life has been much easier. The stories you print have helped me stay on the straight and narrow path. I have learned how to love my family more, the importance of keeping the Word of Wisdom, and the value of setting goals. I don’t know what I would do without the New Era in my life. Thanks so much.

Her soaring dreams

Ever since I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be a writer. A few days ago I added onto a story I’m writing. It felt wonderful to sit down and just write. But I often get discouraged with my dream. Sometimes it seems so far away and unattainable. This morning I read the entire August 1993 issue of the New Era in two hours. It gave me a new hope of believing in myself and my dreams. I know that with the Lord’s help I can—and will—achieve this wonderful goal and career choice of mine. Thank you so much for having this particular issue be all about art. The article “Bright Light of Our Soaring Dreams” helped me realize I can no longer be jealous of others. I am thankful for my talents.
